About Sam
After graduating from James Madison University in 2011, Sam used his digital marketing skills to sell American charcuterie nationwide for his family's 95-year-old specialty food business - Edwards Virginia Smokehouse. As Vice President, he was a generalist - playing both the roles of an administrator and a contributor to the company.
As an administrator, Sam collaborated with both in-house and third-party vendors on critical initiatives such as improving customer support strategies, increasing ROI with marketing campaigns, and supervising entire company rebranding projects.
As a contributor, his technical skills in copywriting, video production, and e-commerce design gave him a "boots-on-the-ground" approach to making our online goals profitable.
In 2016, the company suffered a devastating fire. After five years of recovery efforts, it was time to move on. Sam and his family successfully sold the company in September 2021.
Today, he’s moving forward with his career - continuing to focus on e-commerce strategies and emerging technologies such as bitcoin, where he publishes a semi-weekly newsletter on the subject.
In June 2022, Sam launched HickoryDigital, LLC - a freelance company that offers digital marketing services to companies of all sizes.
